Week of Russian Culture in the UAE, 2011
November 3, 2010 Evgeniy Morozov, head of working group (subcommittee) on culture, the Russian-Emirate intergovernmental commission, in the presence of the ambassador of Russian Federation A.V. Andreev, met at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development with Federal Minister of UAE Abdul Rahman Al Owais.
During the meeting was supported the initiative to hold the Culture Week of Russia in 2011 in UAE. In the festival’s program, which presented by Evgeniy Morozov, head of Culture Department of REDS, is scheduled to include performances of the best bands and performers: maestro Vladimir Spivakov, Mikhail Fedotov, N. Petrova, Kremlin Ballet , soloists of opera, russians folk ensembles.
It is also planned to involve creative teams from Tatarstan and Bashkortostan. Within russian cultural week will be held an art exhibition. Evgeniy Morozov said UAE Minister about the work already underway in cooperation with culture Agency of Abu Dhabi emirate.
UAE Minister Abdul Rahman Al-Owais assured that he will provide full support for the Week of Russian Culture in UAE, and proposed to use for that Emirates Palace hotel and Abu Dhabi National Theatre. In addition, the minister advised to hold part of performances in Dubai, Sharjah and Al Ain, so that more people in UAE could become acquainted with the best of Russian culture. He gave appropriate instructions to employees of his ministry to coordinate joint work for the Week of Russian Culture in UAE.
During the meeting, Russian Ambassador to UAE Andrey Andreev discussed with Minister of Culture UAE about opportunity to continue work on intergovernmental agreement on culture between Russia and UAE. Minister Abdul Rahman al-Owais confirmed his interest in promoting bilateral cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The meeting took place in a warm friendly atmosphere. Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Owais told that he likes russian culture and art, and shared his plans to visit Russia next year, in particular he expressed a desire to visit historical and cultural center – the St. Petersburg city. Minister of Culture gladly accepted from russian delegation national souvenir – a russian doll – Matreshka, after the meeting participants made a commemorative photo.
